London, England's capital, is one of the world's most desired places to travel as it is iconic with many famous landmarks and significant sites. With a population of approximately 8.7 million, the capital is a bustling and thriving place to visit with endless things to do. Here are 5 brilliant tourist spots to visit that were my personal favourites.
ABBEY ROAD!
My best friend and I getting 'the shot' on the iconic crossing.
Abbey Road has to be one of Europe's most sought after locations to see, walk across and take a photo on the iconic crossing! Well known due to the famous 1969 album 'Abbey Road' and album cover photo for The Beatles, the English rock band and the most influential act of the rock era. Therefore, I highly suggest making your way over to Abbey Road, you can even form a single line with your travel friends and do the iconic march or you can do what my friends and I did - watch everyone else do it.
Platform 9 3/4!
For all the millions of Harry Potter fans out there or even a great tourist spot to take the kids is the famous fictional site of Platform 9 3/4. The site is even free of cost for a photo opportunity! The workers on the site even supply a wand, scarves and glasses for props to make the experience feel even more real!
You can also go to the Harry Potter gift shop and purchase a wand like I did!
Westminster Abbey!
Being one of the top ten attractions in London, Westminster Abbey is one to make sure you cross off your list. This 700 year old building is home to the burial of around 3, 300 famous people such as Charles Dickens, Sir Isaac Newton and William Shakespeare. This Abbey is so magical and enchanting, it will take you a while to walk through the site however, well it took myself a very long time but it is so worth it! The Abbey has also been filmed in Harry Potter scenes, another site for the Harry Potter fans, like myself!
This courtyard and these corridors featured above is where Harry Potter scenes are filmed!
The Tower Bridge!
One of London's most iconic symbols, one most people would recognize is the beautiful Tower Bridge. The impressive Victorian Bridge took 8 years to build with an astonishing 432 construction works to complete. There is also a Tower Bridge exhibition in which one can visit and find out about the history of the Bridge and also the mechanics behind the sophisticated bascule bridge.
Buckingham Palace!
Lastly, The Buckingham Palace, is of course, a special site one should not miss! My personal favourite, it wasn't until I was in front of the big majestic gates that I realized how incredibly beautiful the palace is. If you are lucky or there long enough you can even watch the changing of guards.
Myself at the gates of the beautiful Buckingham Palace, it wasn't even getting to the front of the gates trying to scramble through the crowds! It is a very busy tourist site.
Thankyou!
